自らが抱く抽象的なイメージは、アーティストの故郷である三重県伊賀の山奥に分け入り、その自然との対話の中で得られた体験によって明確なイメージとして導き出されるという。森の息吹を感じながら、闇の中でもいとわず積み重ねられたおびただしい数のスケッチブックがベースとなって、岩名に生み出された絵画は、神秘性が秘められ、また土着性の強度が高められ、作品の魅力となっている。

This artist’s abstract images become clearer as a result of his experiences communing with nature in the mountains near his hometown in Iga in Mie Prefecture.Working from several sketchbooks that he filled while spending the nights outdoors in the living,breathing forest,Iwana’s paintings have a mythological feeling and a strong nativeness that makes them appealing.
